We appreciate your interest in submitting a proposal to the Brett Family Foundation.  As you can imagine, the Foundation receives more requests than we are able to fund.  Please carefully read the information presented below to determine whether your organization is well-aligned with our funding priorities.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 303-442-1200.

Recognizing that organizational infrastructure is critical to success, the Brett Family Foundation welcomes requests for general operating support.  In addition, we consider requests for specific program support, technical assistance, capital campaigns, and endowment development.

Funding Priorities

The foundation awards grants in three program areas.

Social Justice (Statewide): We support organizations throughout the state of Colorado working to address the root causes of social, economic, gender and racial inequities through strategies that empower affected communities to engage in the democratic process and advance progressive policy solutions.    For more information on this program and how to apply, click here: Social Justice Program

Direct Services (Boulder County): We support Boulder County nonprofits that provide direct services and support for underserved populations, primarily disadvantaged youth ages 12-18 and their families.  Funding for direct services is typically limited to Boulder County.
Note: Beginning in 2013, the Foundation will accept applications by invitation only.

Grant Size

Grants typically range from $2,500 to $10,000. Multi-year grants are considered for organizations with which the Foundation has a past funding relationship. Please note that after funding any direct service organization for three consecutive years of funding, we will consider a new application only after a two-year break.

Restrictions

Generally, we do not support:

• Grants to individuals
• Programs outside Colorado
• Religious organizations
• Candidates for political office
• Individual public or private schools (k-12, graduate, post-graduate)
• Large public charities
